Attorney Leon Legleiter explains the different types of intellectual property protections
On March 25, 2013, the UNC SRP Research Translation Core and the Office of Technology Development sponsored a half-day Technology Development Workshop. Workshop participants learned how to translate new knowledge emerging from scientific research into useful products and services. Sessions emphasized University resources to support entrepreneurs, how to protect intellectual property, and basics of how to start a company.

Commercialization Resources at UNC
- Carolina KickStart:
Carolina KickStart is a program of the CTSA-funded NC Translational and
Clinical Sciences (TraCS) Institute at UNC that provides support for faculty and students in
commercializing biomedical technologies. Carolina KickStart provides grants, incubation services, connections to outside resources, and coaching to new entrepreneurs.
Chapel Hill: A cooperative effort between The University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill, The Town of Chapel Hill, Orange County, the Downtown Partnership,
and private supporters. Launch provides mentoring, workshops, resources, and investment capital to emerging entrepreneurs.
the Venture: Launching the Venture is a series of courses designed to
teach, empower, and assist teams of entrepreneurs at UNC (including students,
faculty, and staff) to launch commercial businesses and social ventures.
