Public Health Leadership Program (PHLP) offers the Master of Public Health degree in three concentration areas. Applicants are expected to have three to five years of health-related experience. For more information about the Master's programs--distance or residential--refer to our program guidelines.
We also offer an array of online Certificates, requiring between 11 and 15 credit hours.
The MPH is offered in three concentration areas:
The MPH in all concentration areas is available in both distance and residential formats, with the exception of Health Care and Prevention, which is offered only on campus. In accordance with guidelines from the Council on Education for Public Health, the Program requires a minimum of 42 credits for completion.

The Certificate in Core Public Health Concepts is 15-credit hour program of study. The content is the same as the core content taught in UNC's masters of public health programs. All courses have been specially designed and developed for delivery via the Internet.

The Certificate in Field Epidemiology is a 12-credit hour program of study. The curriculum addresses the core functions of outbreak investigation, surveillance systems and methods, infectious disease epidemiology, and field epidemiology methods. All courses have been specially designed and developed for delivery via the Internet.
The Online Global Health Certificate is an interdisciplinary, four-course, formal academic certificate for non-degree seeking students that examines the complexities inherent in improving health on a global scale.
The Public Health Leadership Certificate is an 11-credit hour program of study. The content is the same as the core content taught in PHLP's MPH programs. All courses have been specially designed and developed for delivery via distance learning. Students will be able to register, receive materials, interact with faculty, order books and successfully complete this program while only traveling to campus once. A connection to the Internet is all that is required!
The Occupational Health Nursing Certificate is an academic program of study. Students take 11- 12 credits in coursework that has been specially developed for distance education. All credits earned are completely transferable as part of the requirements for the completion of the OHN Concentration MPH degree. Students will be able to register, receive materials, interact with faculty, order books, and successfully complete this program while only traveling to campus once. A connection to the Internet is all that is required!
