|Message from the Interim Chair|
Welcome to the University of North Carolina's Department of Nutrition, part of both the Gillings School of Global Public Health, and the School of Medicine! As National Research Council top-ranked nutrition department, you will find stellar students and faculty here at UNC whose work is designed to improve global health through nutrition. You're entering the field of nutrition at a remarkable time. There are new methods to study genetic and epigenetic factors that influence how nutrition impacts on biological systems and health, as well as new methods to study nutrition in the context of large, diverse, rapidly changing populations around the world. And, rapid changes in health care delivery in the US will open doors for exciting new approaches to medical nutrition therapy for individuals as well as interventions to improve nutrition in homes, schools and communities. Our students and faculty are engaged in stimulating and meaningful work here in North Carolina, elsewhere in the US, and around the world.
