|February 05, 2007|
Active Living by Design, a program of the North Carolina Institute for Public Health, was recently awarded a grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation for more than $660,000. Active Living by Design will use the grant funds to provide technical assistance to the foundation's new Food and Fitness initiative.
Food and Fitness, a multi-year, national initiative, will aim to create community environments that support healthy children, youth and families. The initiative plans to make available and promote the procurement and consumption of local healthy food and to create space and structures for physical activity and play.
Active Living by Design is a national program established by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. For more information about Active Living by Design, please visit www.activelivingbydesign.org.
The North Carolina Institute for Public Health is the service and outreach arm of the UNC School of Public Health.
