Research Assistant Professor Bodnarís research activities include the development and application of analytical methods for the quantitative and qualitative analysis of surrogate markers of exposure, disease, and drug treatment. Her expertise is bioanalytical mass spectrometry and she has several years of experience using this technology to analyze both small molecules and larger biomolecules. Her laboratory, the Biomarker Mass Spectrometry Core Facility, routinely collaborates with investigators from multiple disciplines to develop assays and analyze samples of an environmental and/or biological nature. Current projects include quantitative analysis using LC-MS/MS to measure DNA and protein adducts as markers of oxidative stress, DNA damage, or chemical exposure, identification and quantitation of oxidative and phase II metabolites from in vitro and in vivo studies for use as biomarkers, accurate mass analysis for metabolomic profiling and characterization of reaction products and intermediates, and multi-elemental analysis by ICP-MS.
