Membership Home | Grant Acknowledgement
Membership is open to all UNC faculty members who are actively engaged in nutrition and/or obesity-related research supported by NORC services.
To qualify for membership, investigators must (1) have a nutrition and/or obesity research grant which has been peer-reviewed and funded by the NIH, CDC, NSF, or another large agency or foundation, (2) be an investigator who is adding a nutrition and/or obesity component to their currently funded research for the first time, or (3) be a junior investigator (this includes Pilot & Feasibility awardees) in the early stages of their career development, who wish to conduct nutrition/obesity research, but do not yet have NIH-equivalent funding.
Members enjoy priority access to all NORC core facilities and concierge and consultation services are available at little or no cost. Through this network, members will also gain exposure for their research and publications, have an opportunity to network and collaborate with other NORC investigators, and will have expanded access to nutrition and obesity-related conferences, seminars, trainings, and funding opportunities.
As a requirement of membership, investigators are expected to be active users of the NORC, participate in Center activities, and acknowledge the grant in all published work resulting from the use of our services.
To apply for membership, interested individuals must submit a research statement, NIH biosketch, and other support document to the membership review committee. The research statement should detail the investigator's nutrition and obesity-related research and list the NORC focus area(s) that best describes their current research. Please send the requested documentation to Michelle Collins for membership consideration.
