The learning labs are pilot projects with our partners intended to further our knowledge about more effective learning delivery by testing innovative capacity building solutions using new tools and processes. These labs are the test beds for the next generation of global learning products.
The intersection of mobile technology and web 2.0 applications such as blogs, wikis and social media systems is fundamentally changing the way that people are accessing and interacting with content and with each other. In our learning labs, we test how mobile content delivery, micro blogging and web2.0 interaction tools can produce more customized and flexible skill development programs for global health and development workers. A recent learning lab project used SMS messaging and twitter to enhance the participation of students enrolled in our online programs by sending key prompts to their mobile phones.
