|Sen receives honorary Doctor of Science from the University of Calcutta|
Pranab K. Sen, PhD, Cary C. Boshamer Distinguished Professor of biostatistics and professor of statistics and operations research, was presented with an honorary Doctor of Science degree on March 22, 2012, at the University of Calcutta.
"This is a singular honor and very rare for statisticians," said Michael Kosorok, Chair of the department.
Sen has contributed extensively to many areas of statistics including order statistics, nonparametrics, robust inference, sequential methods, asymptotics, biostatics, clinical trials, bioenvironmental studies and bioinformatics.
The University of Calcutta is also Sen's alma mater, where he received his bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees, all in statistics.
